Executive & Talent Assessments

Personality

Understand the personality patterns that shape how a leader thinks and decides.

The Luks Prisma Penta Personality Assessment maps a leader's characteristic ways of perceiving, deciding, and relating — the underlying patterns that surface in every consequential conversation.

What it measures

Penta refines the Big-Five personality tradition into five prismas — Openness, Diligence, Social Engagement, Collaborative Spirit, and Emotional Balance. Each prisma reveals a family of traits that helps interpret how a person is likely to show up under pressure, in ambiguity, and in the ordinary friction of leading through others.

Penta measures the durable patterns that show up across contexts — not moods, not intentions, not roles. It clarifies how a leader tends to approach the parts of their job that repeat: judgment, communication, adaptation, conflict, and collaboration.

  • How a leader takes in and interprets new information.

  • How they organize themselves and execute against commitments.

  • How they engage others and manage energy in a room.

  • How they cooperate under pressure and where they hold the line.

  • How they regulate emotion and recover from setbacks.

The dimensions

Penta reads through five prismas — each one a lens on a different part of how a person is wired to operate.

  1. 01

    Openness to Experience

Curiosity, imagination, and comfort with the unfamiliar — how new information gets in.

  2. 02

    Diligence

Structure, discipline, and follow-through — how commitments get met.

  3. 03

    Social Engagement

Presence, assertiveness, and energy in a room — how a leader shows up socially.

  4. 04

    Collaborative Spirit

Trust, cooperation, and generosity — how the leader operates alongside others.

  5. 05

    Emotional Balance

Regulation, resilience, and composure — how the leader manages pressure over time.

How it's built

Penta is grounded in decades of Big-Five personality research and refined for executive contexts. It's built to be interpretable by business leaders — not only by psychologists.

  • Modeled on established Big-Five personality science, adapted for leadership decisions.

  • Written and normed for professional executive populations.

  • Reported in business language, not clinical language.

  • Interpreted as patterns and tendencies — never as verdicts.

What you receive

Every Penta engagement produces a decision-grade report the recipient — and the person who ordered it — can defend.

  • A written narrative report on the five prismas, with executive-context interpretation.

  • Behavioral signatures — how the pattern is likely to appear in day-to-day leadership.

  • Strength patterns and characteristic risks under pressure.

  • Development frames the leader (or coach) can act on.

  • Optional comparative view when Penta is applied to a finalist slate.

How teams use it

Penta is the personality layer under most Luks Prisma engagements.

01

Executive selection

Applied to finalists so the finalist conversation is grounded in behavioral evidence, not just resume and reference.

02

Executive coaching

Used at the start of a coaching engagement to shorten the diagnostic phase and give the leader-coach relationship a shared language.

03

Leadership development

Applied across a cohort to create a common frame for growth conversations and to reveal patterns the group needs to compensate for.

04

Team effectiveness

Applied to an intact leadership team to surface complementarity and unexamined redundancy in how the team is wired.

What this is not

Penta is not a personality test used to filter people out. It is a personality lens designed to help judgment holders make better people decisions — with a leader who is fully aware they are being read.

The principle

“Personality is not destiny — but the pattern is real, and knowing the pattern is what turns intuition into judgment.”

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

How long does the Luks Prisma Penta Personality Assessment take to complete?

Most leaders complete it in 25 to 35 minutes. It is self-paced and can be paused. There is no time bonus for finishing quickly — accuracy matters more than speed.

Is Penta a hiring test or a development tool?

It is designed to strengthen judgment, not to filter people out. It is used in executive selection to reveal patterns for structured interviews, in onboarding to accelerate fit, and in coaching to focus development — always with a leader who is aware they are being read.

How does Penta differ from other Big Five instruments?

Penta refines the Big Five tradition into five prismas calibrated for consequential leadership decisions. The output is a peer-authored narrative for judgment holders — not a numeric score — and it is embedded in the same platform as our leadership, sales, and cultural assessments so patterns can be read side-by-side.

Can Penta results predict whether a leader will succeed in a specific role?

No single assessment predicts success. Penta clarifies the durable patterns a leader brings; whether those patterns fit a specific seat depends on the demands of that seat and the context around it. Penta helps you ask sharper questions, not answer them alone.

Is the assessment available in Spanish?

Yes. Penta is available in peer-authored Spanish and English — not translations of each other. Both versions carry the same architecture and interpretive weight.

Who receives the results, and can the leader see their own report?

The full narrative is shared with the leader and with the sponsors of the decision (search partner, HR leader, coach, or hiring executive). The debrief conversation is where the pattern becomes useful — not the document alone.
